Mom, business owner, community leader
Born and raised in Augusta, Raegan LaRochelle is a small business owner and economic development consultant. She is a proud graduate of Cony High School, where she played basketball and field hockey for state championship teams. After graduating from college, Raegan returned to her hometown and has been deeply involved in her community.
Prior to her work in the Maine Legislature, Raegan served as an at-large city councilor in Augusta. She was first elected as a State Representative in 2021 in a special election. Since her swearing-in, she has served on the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement, and Business.
Raegan lives in Augusta, where she's raising her twin sons, who now attend Cony High School. Her partner Fred passed away in 2023. She remains deeply involved in her local community, serving on nonprofit boards including the Kennebec County YMCA and Kennebec Behavioral Health, and is a member of Le Club Calumet.
As the owner of two local businesses, Raegan understands firsthand that small businesses are the backbone of Maine’s economy. She believes we need to grow our local businesses and minimize barriers that keep them from thriving.
Raegan is fighting to build more affordable housing so that all Mainers – including veterans, people with disabilities, or those battling mental health issues or substance use disorder – can afford a decent place to live.
Raegan supported the passage of Maine’s first paid family and medical leave program, which will provide much-needed relief to families.
Healthcare is a right, and no Mainer should go bankrupt trying to pay their medical bills. Raegan was proud to support efforts to create the insulin safety-net program, improve drug price transparency, and fund preventative dental care.
Maine’s natural resources are vital for our outdoor recreation and tourist economy. Raegan supported efforts to increase our land conservation efforts, fight the effects of climate change, and support good-paying, green-energy jobs.
Raegan also supports our state employees and the important services that they provide.
